St John’s Catholic Comprehensive School

The Sixth Form Curriculum

We have a broad curriculum on offer that enables each and every pupil to choose a personalised pathway that, along with our good sixth form teaching and learning standards, provides them with the opportunity to achieve highly and work towards the future they aspire to.

A wide range of level 3 courses are available and detailed on this site and in our sixth form prospectus. Pupils are able to study up to 4 different subjects, along with an enrichment subject; or specialise in 1 or 2 subject areas by taking advantage of the double award courses on offer. All sixth form students also have the opportunity to retake their GCSE English Language and/or GCSE Mathematics if necessary.

The achievement of sixth form pupils at St John’s is rapidly improving and all students leave to enter further education, training or employment, this fact having been recognised by Ofsted in their recent inspection;

“The curriculum in the sixth form has a good balance of academic and work-related courses. It prepares them well for the next stage of their education, employment or training”.

We pride ourselves in working with each individual child and enabling them to achieve their full potential in all that they do. As you read through this website, lasts years’ alumni will be hard at work at universities and apprenticeships across the UK. They will be studying accountancy with BT, building a future in Civil Engineering at Derby, and studying Politics at Queen Mary University.
