Head of Science

Required for September 2026/January 2027

(Applications for an earlier start are also welcomed)

Salary: Main/Upper Pay Scale + TLR 1B - £12,515

Full Time (or 4 Days per week if this is the candidate’s preference)

We are seeking to appoint an inspirational and dedicated full-time Head of Science. The successful candidate will be joining our school to lead one of our most effective and respected departments, working and collaborating with an exceptionally committed and talented team of practitioners.

Our Science department’s results are consistently excellent and have been a major contributing factor to the exceptional whole school outcomes that St John’s has achieved in recent years. At GCSE we deliver both the Double and Triple Science qualifications, and at Key Stage 5 we offer A levels in Biology, Chemistry & Physics as well as Level 3 Vocational qualifications in Applied Science and Medical Science (new from September 2026)

This is a really exciting time to be joining our school and to have the opportunity of leading an enthusiastic, forward-thinking and supportive team. Teacher of Maths – Full time

We are looking to appoint a talented and enthusiastic Maths teacher to join our high-performing and extremely welcoming Maths team. You will work alongside our Head of Department and other experienced Maths staff to deliver this vital core subject across a range of abilities and age groups. The successful candidate will teach across at least two key stages and there will be an opportunity to teach aspects of the A Level course should the successful candidate be interested in doing so (there is no requirement for the successful candidate to have experience of, or an interest in, teaching A Level).
