The extended project is an independent research project which allows learners to study  topic area which extends their learning in their area of study. There are four assessment objectives that require the learner to demonstrate their knowledge skills and understanding: 

A01 - Manage – The design planning and carrying out of the project 

A02 - Use Resources – The research, organisation and ability to use the resources and information selected 

A03 - Develop and Realise – Selecting and using a range of skills to answer the question thoroughly 

A04 – Review – Evaluate all aspects of the project

Due to the project being independent, students are required to work on their project outside of the normal lesson time in order to complete it within one year. Students work on the project from September to April.
