A-Level English Literature

Course Details

The course will enable candidates to develop literary analysis skills and critical thinking in response to a range of literary texts.

Modules Studied:

Component 1: Drama (30% of A-Level)

Students currently study: Othello by William Shakespeare and A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams.

Component 2: Prose (20% of A-Level)

Students currently study: The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters and The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde.

Component 3: Poetry ( 30% of A-Level)

Students currently study: The Romantics anthology of poetry and post-2000 specified poetry.

Non-exam Assessment: (20% of A-Level)

Comparative critical study of two texts from the dystopian genre. This consist of an extended essay of 2500-3000 words.

What can I do after I have completed this course?

A-Level English Literature is a highly regarded degree across the world of industry. It is well respected and will open several doors for you in non-English careers as well as the more traditional routes of Publishing, Media, Journalism and Teaching.
