Apprenticeships & Traineeships

An apprenticeship is paid employment which offers training or education for anyone over the age of 16. This can start at Level 2 (equivalent to GCSE) up to and including Level 7 (post-graduate qualification)

Apprenticeships combine real work with training and study. Being an apprentice isn’t the same as being a college or university student. You’ll be putting what you learn into practice in the workplace. Apprentices don’t have to pay the fees for training or education either.

You can achieve one of the following qualification levels depending on what the level of apprenticeship is:

	Level	Equivalent education level
Intermediate	2	GCSE
Advanced	3	A level
Higher	4,5,6 and 7	Foundation degree and above
Degree	6 and 7	Bachelor’s or master’s degree

Traineeships

A traineeship is a fully funded education & training programme for 16-24 year olds. It will help to build your employability skills and offer experience of the workplace through work placements. A traineeship can last from 6 weeks to a maximum of 1 year (the majority are around 6 months in length).
