St John’s Catholic Comprehensive School

Business & Enterprise

The Business department offers a varied curriculum providing students with multiple opportunities to develop both academically and personally. We deliver valuable academic rigour across different courses including; Business, Enterprise and Personal Finance whilst providing students with opportunities to gain and enhance vital employability and life skills. By allowing students to actively engage in a variety of learning experiences, we hope to support all students to develop into well rounded individuals ready for the next step of their academic and career journey.

Our subjects link with many others within the school as, amongst other skills, we particularly focus on writing, presentation, analysis, problem solving and evaluative skills. Our students will also undertake tasks such as CV and cover letter writing, mock interviews and personal statements to ensure they are ready for a world outside of education.

At KS4 we offer BTEC Enterprise to allow students to understand how small businesses are created and what makes them successful. We also focus on the key attributes of entrepreneurship which builds the foundations the students need to follow a pathway to KS5 where we offer both BTEC Business and LIBF Personal Finance. Business allows them to further enhance the knowledge they have learnt in KS4 and deep-dive into a subject they have sprung a passion for whilst Personal Finance gets them to consider their own finances as well as Banking to allow students to make smart choices regarding their finances when they leave school at 18.
