Sixth Form at St John's
As the Sixth Form Leadership Team we are incredibly proud of our dynamic and forward-looking Sixth Form, which offers a wide choice of subjects as well as excellent individual pupil support to ensure that all students achieve their potential.
Our rich academic programme is supplemented by additional academic, spiritual and extra-curricular activities.
Close pastoral support is provided by the Director of Sixth Form, the Head of Year 12 and the Sixth Form Pastoral Team. Whilst the vast majority of our student’s progress to University, we pride ourselves on the extensive support offered to students who would rather pursue alternatives to university.
Individual careers support is available throughout the Sixth Form and work experience opportunities are individually tailored to support career aspirations. Every week we invite industry specialists and university representatives to speak to our students to provide them with rich insights into the world of industry and academia.
The social life in the Sixth Form is stimulating and varied with a variety of activities organised for lunchtime and after school. Trips abroad, community service, prefect status and participating in the Sports Leaders Award Scheme and the Duke of Edinburgh scheme (which start in earlier school years as well) are just some of the activities currently undertaken by our Sixth Form students.
Life in the Sixth Form concludes with two popular events, the “Goodbye Mass” and the “Leavers’ BBQ”. An excellent service is provided on results day to ensure that our students obtain places at appropriate universities.
