Teacher of Computing

Required for January 2025 (or earlier subject to candidate’s availability)

Salary – Main/Upper Pay Scale

Leadership opportunities (TLR) available for the right candidate

St John’s is a very successful co-ed Catholic school with over 1300 pupils, including c.300 pupils in our Sixth Form. We have a very strong Catholic ethos and pride ourselves in being a warm and welcoming community. The school’s 2023 Progress 8 score of +0.33 was the sixth consecutive examination year that the school achieved a positive score on this key performance measure and a wonderful reflection of the talented and dedicated pupils and staff we have at the school.  The Computing department’s results are consistently excellent and have been a major contributing factor to the exceptional whole school outcomes achieved in recent years.

We are seeking to appoint a committed Teacher of Computing who will inspire our young people and share our values to ensure that every pupil will succeed and thrive. It is envisaged that the successful applicant will consistently deliver engaging lessons and be extremely ambitious and highly motivated to support and lead our pupils. The successful candidate will be joining a highly effective and respected department, working and collaborating with an exceptionally committed and talented team of practitioners.  TLR leadership opportunities within the department are available for the right candidate, and the exact role and responsibilities to be assigned will be carefully devised based on the successful candidate’s skills and interests, and the needs of the department.

In addition to an exciting and engaging core KS3 Computing curriculum, the school offers a range of KS4 and KS5 Computing based courses for students to select from; these include GCSE Computer Science, Level 1/2 Digital Information Technology and Level 3 Extended Certificate in Information Technology. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach across different key stages (the timetable will be personalised to best reflect the successful candidate’s experiences and interests).

We would welcome applications from experienced Computing teachers and those who are newly embarking on their teaching career.
